As the saying goes, Cleveland rocks.

But it turns out we’re not alone. We have some namesakes scattered across the United States, and in fact, around the world. There are other Clevelands out there.

places named cleveland

Here are just a few of them:

Cleveland, Alabama

A tiny burg of only 1,300 people, this town sits on Route 231 and boasts … well, not that much. It has a handful of decent places to eat – try Dana’s Bar B Q if you’re ever there – and that’s about it.

Cleveland, Arkansas

If you thought Alabama’s Cleveland was small, you ain’t seen nothin’ yet. In Arkansas, you’ll find another Cleveland on Highway 95, population: 76. Yep, 76 people. Amazingly, this itty bitty village has two churches, a post office, and its own fire company.

Cleveland, Florida

If you want to escape the rainy days of Ohio’s Cleveland, Florida’s version sounds like a nice place to go. Located just a few miles from the Gulf of Mexico on the state’s west coast, this coastal community of about 3,000 people is someplace where folks like to settle down for retirement.

Some 35% of the population are over 65, and another 27% are between 45 and 64. And the weather? HOT but gorgeous.

Cleveland, Georgia

Point your car north from Florida and you’ll end up in the Peachtree State, where you’ll find the county seat of White County. And yes, it’s another Cleveland. Founded in 1857, it was named after General Benjamin Cleveland (War of 1812).

This Cleveland is legitimately famous, too: it’s the home of Babyland General Hospital, the place where Cabbage Patch Dolls are made. Our Cleveland is famous for lots of things, but we’ve got to be honest, we’re a little envious of that claim to fame!

Cleveland, Illinois

A little closer to home is the Illinois version of Cleveland, which is … lacking. Lovely people, to be sure, but with a population of just about 200 you could fit the entire town into one Cleveland, Ohio apartment building and still have rooms to spare. Heck, at just .36 square miles, you could literally fit the town onto as city block!

Amazingly, this handful of Other Clevelands is only the start. There are a lot more. Perhaps we’ll write about them in a future article.

Our Cleveland is special, make no mistake. It’s a city full of life and interesting things to see and do.

Still, the idea that there are other Clevelands out there is intriguing. Anyone up for a road trip?
